Women’s Health Month: Women Caring for Women at PrimaryPlus
Primary Plus Womens Health Team

Women’s Health Month is a meaningful reminder for women of all ages to pause, check in with their health, and make sure they have the support they need through every stage of life. From routine wellness visits to pregnancy care, family planning, cancer screenings, and ongoing health concerns, having a trusted care team can make all the difference.

At PrimaryPlus, women’s health is about more than one appointment or one service. It is about providing compassionate, accessible care that helps women feel heard, supported, and confident in their health decisions.

PrimaryPlus is proud to offer women’s health services through a dedicated team of female providers — women caring for women. This team includes OB/GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, and women’s health nurse practitioners who provide care tailored to each patient’s needs.

PrimaryPlus offers women’s health services across several locations, including Vanceburg, Ashland, Grayson, Flemingsburg, and the main OB/GYN office in Maysville. In addition to the Women’s Health team, some PrimaryPlus Family Practice providers, including the PrimaryPlus-Family Medicine Residency Clinic, also provide women’s health services, making care even more accessible for patients throughout the region.

Why Women’s Health Month Matters

Women often spend a lot of time caring for others, including children, spouses, parents, coworkers, and loved ones. But Women’s Health Month is a reminder that taking care of yourself is not something to put off.

Regular women’s health visits can help with preventive screenings, birth control and family planning, pregnancy testing and prenatal care, pelvic exams, STD testing, menstrual or hormonal concerns, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and general health questions or education.

These visits are also an opportunity to talk openly with a provider about changes in your body, symptoms you may be experiencing, or questions you may have about your health.

Comprehensive Women’s Health Services Close to Home

PrimaryPlus provides a complete range of gynecologic and women’s health services through a medical team that understands the importance of comfort, respect, and trust during care. Their women’s health services are designed to support patients across generations, from young adulthood through pregnancy, motherhood, menopause, and beyond.

For many patients, convenience also matters. Having access to women’s health care in the same network as family health, pediatrics, pharmacy, counseling, imaging, and other services can make it easier to stay consistent with care.

By offering women’s health care through both the dedicated Women’s Health team and select Family Practice providers, PrimaryPlus helps patients access care in a way that fits their needs, location, and stage of life.

Prenatal Care for Expecting Mothers

Pregnancy is one of the most important times to have a care team you trust. PrimaryPlus offers prenatal care at locations including Maysville, Vanceburg, Ashland, Flemingsburg, and Grayson. Their OB/GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, and women’s health nurse practitioners help guide patients through pregnancy with care focused on both mom and baby.

Prenatal visits are an important part of monitoring a healthy pregnancy, answering questions, and helping expecting mothers feel prepared throughout the journey.

Family Planning and Title X Services

Women’s Health Month is also a good time to think about reproductive health and family planning needs. PrimaryPlus offers services such as birth control, pregnancy testing, STD testing, health education, basic infertility services, pelvic exams, and other needed services.

PrimaryPlus also offers Kentucky Title X Family Planning services at all Kentucky locations. These confidential family planning services are available for women, men, and teens and may be available at no cost to qualifying patients. Services may include birth control, pregnancy testing, STD testing, health education and counseling, basic infertility services, pelvic exams, and additional family planning support.

These services give patients the opportunity to make informed choices about their health, their families, and their future in a confidential and supportive setting.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings

Preventive screenings are one of the most important parts of women’s health care. PrimaryPlus is a proud partner of the Kentucky Women’s Cancer Screening Program, offering free breast and cervical cancer screening services to eligible women at Kentucky locations. Eligible women may be able to access services such as mammograms and Pap tests through the program.

Early detection can play a major role in treatment options and outcomes. If you are unsure whether you are due for a screening, Women’s Health Month is a great time to ask.

Whole-Person Care for Women

Women’s health is connected to overall health. That means primary care, mental health, nutrition, pharmacy support, imaging, and chronic disease management can all play a role in helping women feel their best.

At PrimaryPlus, the focus is on creating a medical home where patients can take an active role in their health. Their team-based approach connects patients with providers and services that support long-term wellness, not just immediate concerns.

Whether a patient is seeing the Women’s Health team, a Family Practice provider, or the PrimaryPlus-Family Medicine Residency Clinic, the goal remains the same: to provide quality, compassionate care close to home.
