School Based Health Services
School-Based Health: Ensuring Happy, Healthy Kids & Creating Access to Quality Care for Families
PrimaryPlus is happy to offer school-based health services in three of our area schools–Ripley Union Lewis Huntington Schools, Bracken County Schools and Augusta Independent School District. Services may vary within each district. These partnerships are geared towards ensuring happy, healthy kids and creating access to quality care for families of the region! We want to help keep the kids in school and engaged as much as possible, reducing barriers for learning.
School-based services are designed to be an added resource to parents and IS NOT designed to replace your child’s pediatrician or routine medical provider. As a school-based health center, the goal is to provide a convenient, yet quality healthcare evaluation upon parental consent when your child has any minor sickness such as earache, throat infection, eye infection, skin irritation, cold, runny nose, etc.
PrimaryPlus-Ripley: We opened our PrimaryPlus-Ripley office in the spring of 2020 in the midst of COVID…while many school-based projects got put on hold…we kept going because the community needed us. Our Ripley location began with a partnership between the RUHL School District, Interact for Health and PrimaryPlus. The school-based health center is located on the back of RUHL Elementary School (Catherine St.) and is open to all RUHL students, RUHL faculty/staff but is also open to the ENTIRE community. All Ages WELCOME. Our school-based services can be a mix of in-person, as well as, state of the art telemedicine equipment that allows parents/guardians to be part of the visit.
Ripley Services Include Primary Care & Counseling Services
PrimaryPlus-Ripley features the care of Family Health Nurse Practitioner, Carissa Kirk, APRN. Carissa is a RULH graduate and is also a parent to students in the RULH School System. She loves the kids of this school system and is excited to have the opportunity to nurture and care for them.
