Jerome Ugrin, the CEO, of PrimaryPlus has been part of the organization since almost its inception.  For over 35 years , PrimaryPlus has been guided by his leadership, dedication, ingenuity, and a passion for serving his community.  For those that know him, they expect and cherish his out-of-the-box thinking style, his courage to take chances and his compassion for his employees and the patients his organization serves.

Jerry loves to tell the story of growing up as a cowboy in the beautiful Montana countryside which his employees are confident that is where he learned to take the ropes and lead fearlessly.  His studies then led him from the wide-open skies to the beautiful mountain scapes of the University of Northern Colorado where he graduated in 1968 with his Bachelors Degree in Special Education. Out of college he took on an internship with University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver.  In 1973, Jerry completed his Masters in Arts in Audiology, also from the University of Colorado.   Never afraid to take a chance, Jerry took on his first professional adventure moving to the Portsmouth, OH, region in 1973–which he soon discovered was HOME for him.
Jerry has and continues to explore ways to make PrimaryPlus stand out.  For years a residency program has been on Jerry’s radar and finally the right team and partners have come together to bring the program to fruition.  Jerry and the PrimaryPlus family are excited to welcome their family medicine first residency class in 2024.
